Elder Law
Elder Law is a group of services provided by planning for the natural processes of ageing, illness, and incapacity to which we all are subject. However uncomfortable to consider, these are events we can all predict, and they require planning ahead of time. We can help you with this planning in complete privacy, or with you and your family together. Elder Law includes:

- Nursing Home Expenses – With proper planning, you and your family can take legal steps to avoid losing your savings and property to nursing home expenses. This includes applications for Mass Health (Medicaid).
- Caretaking Options – More and more, families and elders wish to remain living in a familiar home setting for as long as possible when the elder is ill or incapacitated. We can help you find in-home programs and support systems, some of which may be government subsidized.
- Wills – A will ensures that your property is passed on to those you choose to benefit from your lifetime of savings. It can also be used to avoid estate taxes.
- Power of Attorney – You decide who may act in your interests if you are unable to act yourself, due to illness or disability. You decide how much authority to give to your substitute, to take care of your affairs.
- Health Care Proxy – You decide how doctors will treat you if you are gravely ill, you decide who understands your wishes best, and you appoint them to enforce your wishes, as your health care proxy.
- Guardianship – In times of incapacity, persons who care for you may need permission from a judge to direct your personal care and protect your assets. You can nominate your own guardian in a Power of Attorney.
